Powering the World: A look at primary energy use in the 10 most-populous countries

As the world’s leaders, including Barack Obama , prepare for the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, promises to cut carbon emissions by shifting away from fossil fuels have been heard from around the globe .
Whether or not these goals are attainable hinges on the leaders’ ability to make significant changes to their country’s primary sources of energy.
This interactive chart shows which countries are most reliant on each primary energy source, with a focus on the ten most populous countries. If the world truly hopes to cut carbon emissions the change must start here.
