Gulf of Mexico to Host Deepest Gas Pipeline
Energy services company Technip said Friday it would work on the installation of the world’s deepest underwater gas pipeline, planned for the Gulf of Mexico.
The French company said it secured an award by Shell Offshore Inc. to develop pipeline infrastructure for its Stones field. The project is set for the Gulf of Mexico at a water depth of approximately 9,500 feet, nearly 2 miles underwater.
“With greater depths come greater challenges for our clients and we are delighted to help Shell push back subsea frontiers by laying the deepest gas pipeline worldwide,” Technip Senior Vice President for North America David Dickson said in a statement Friday.
