Cuba to Build 8 Wind Power Farms by 2020
From MENA FN
Cuba’s emergency power generation and renewable energy sources’ director, Aleisly Valdes, stated that by the end of the decade, the country will establish 8 new wind power farms, reported Xinhua News.
Valdes said that the new farms would increase power capacity by 280 megawatts (MW) and would save 200,000 tons of conventional fuel annually.
Although he didn’t disclose the amount of investments needed to build the wind farms, however, Valedes said that the Caribbean island will reap proceeds in less than 10 years.
He noted that the wind farms will result in a 187,000-tons-reduction in carbon dioxide emissions each year.
