Brazil’s Petrobras Finds More Oil in Santos Basin

From Macauhub

The Carcará well in block 8 of the Santos sea basin has “great potential” for the occurrence of oil, Brazilian oil company Petrobras said in a statement announcing the results of test drilling.

The Brazilian state company added that this “great potential” would be confirmed by continuing prospecting activities, which include drilling another test well later this year.

Information about the potential of the Carcará well came from test drilling in ultra deep waters, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin 232 kilometres of the coast.

Oil production at Carcará is projected to begin in 2018, following drilling throughout 2016 and 2017, according to the Business Plan for 2012-2016 and Petrobras strategic planning for 2020.
