Norwegian Oil Company Statoil Interested in Angola’s Pre-Salt Layer Oil

The chairman of Norwegian oil company Statoil, Hulg Lunde, said in Luanda that his group was very interested in taking part in exploration of the oil found in Angola’s pre-salt layer, according to state newspaper Jornal de Angola.
At the end of a meeting with the country’s Vice President, Manuel Vicente, Lunde noted that the Norwegian company was a partner of Angolan state oil company Sonangol in Blocks 15, 16 and 31.
“We are very interested in taking part in exploration of the Angolan pre-salt,” layer said the Statoil chairman, who announced that the group had launched geological surveys in order to later begin the process of test drilling.
