Sudan and South Sudan officials are meeting in Ethiopia’s capital in an effort to resolve disputes.
Atif Kiir, a South Sudan delegation spokesman, told The Associated Press on Monday that the delegations met earlier in the day.
In September, leaders of the two countries agreed to deals on economic and security arrangements that would allow South Sudan to export oil through Sudan. The two sides, however, could not reach agreements on their disputed border and the fate of the contested region of Abyei. Kiir said the ongoing talks are aimed at implementing the September deals and will not touch on outstanding issues.
