Nuclear Energy Production Centers Move To The East

Vienna is hosting a special meeting of 75 members of the Convention on Nuclear Safety held under the sponsorship of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The Convention was signed in Vienna in 1994 following the Chernobyl disaster of 1986. The meeting’s agenda includes issues of strengthening safety on nuclear power plants (NPPs) in the light of the disaster on the Fukushima-1 in Japan in March 2011. On the sidelines of the meeting the participants are also intensively discussing the future of the nuclear energy in Europe.
