Power Sector Needs Sustainability

Lack of sustainability is one of the major problems of Pakistan’s power sector, which has now no more profitable for the Transcos (transmission companies) and Discos (Distribution Companies) as well as not affordable for the consumer.
The Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Pakistan (IEEEP) President Tahir Basharat Cheema said here Sunday that currently, there is no umbrella or controlling body over power sector, which is now being monitored by the regulator, the NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) that has rotted this vital sector through non-professionalism. Profitability for the power operators and affordability for the consumers is need of the hour, for which the regulator will have to change its policieis, he added.He also stressed upon the people to change their living style and adopt the culture of doing all business and other works during daytime.
