Gas Shortage Fears Deflated

AUSTRALIA’S government resources forecaster says there is unlikely to be a shortage of east coast gas and that expected higher domestic prices as $60 billion of Gladstone LNG projects start exporting should be short-lived.

In a gas market report released yesterday, the Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics said industry talk of a potential shortage — from both gas consumers such as Rio Tinto and providers such as Santos — was overdone.
