Japan Nuclear Free For The First Time Since 1970

Japan’s last operating reactor shut, leaving the country without nuclear power for the first time in more than four decades.

Hokkaido Electric Power’s Tomari No 3 reactor in northern Japan stopped generating electricity on the night of May 5, halting for scheduled maintenance, said Mr Satoshi Takada, a spokesman for the utility.
